As the global energy transition accelerates, DHL is positioning itself as the go-to carrier for the supply chains powering it — from wind turbines to EV batteries.
What DHL Is Doing
DHL is making a major push into the new energy sector, targeting growth from €600M in revenue last year to €3B by 2030. Key investments include:
• A new Time Definite Plus service launching across 22 countries in Europe, built on the DHL Express network and tailored to wind turbine maintenance — offering timed delivery, swap & return solutions, and access to remote or challenging sites
• 1,100+ front-stocking locations capable of delivering spare parts within four hours to 88% of wind farms globally
• A new 17,000 sq m European Battery Logistics Hub in the Netherlands, plus EV Centers of Excellence now operating in 20+ countries — with India and Peru coming later this year
• A Thermoliner solution for temperature- and humidity-sensitive cargo, protecting against extreme conditions and cross-contamination
Why It Matters
The energy transition is creating entirely new supply chain demands — specialized freight, remote delivery, and temperature-sensitive handling at scale. DHL is moving early to own that space. For shippers in or adjacent to energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors, this signals that carrier capabilities in this lane are evolving fast and worth watching.
