A Strategic Return: UPS Reengages USPS for Ground Saver Deliveries

The original report outlines a renewed agreement between UPS and USPS that reintroduces the Postal Service into UPS Ground Saver’s last-mile operations, ending a nearly yearlong pause. Deliveries will begin shortly and ramp up through 2026, with USPS also handling a portion of UPS Mail Innovations volume.

The deal restores a familiar model used under UPS SurePost, expanding coverage to PO Boxes and non-contiguous U.S. regions such as Alaska and Hawaiʻi after UPS briefly brought deliveries in-house due to cost and service concerns.

While the partnership is expected to reduce last-mile costs for UPS, customers may see limited pricing impact and potentially longer transit times. The move signals a strategic shift under new USPS leadership and highlights the continued evolution of final-mile delivery partnerships.
